As a Lifetree Adventures volunteer, you will be working at the front line of the greatest crisis facing South Africa, and the entire African continent: AIDS. Millions of people live with HIV in South Africa, and nearly a thousand people die as a result of AIDS every day. These people are not just numbers. They are individuals, precious in the sight of God, and with the same hopes and dreams that we all share.
“A new command I give to you: Love one another. As I have loved you.”

TRIP OVERVIEW
Thankfully, this massive tragedy is being addressed with a practical demonstration of Christ’s love at the Living Hope Community Center in Cape Town. The Center assists community members to overcome the root causes of poverty and AIDS. Through early education at kids clubs, life skills training and healthcare centers for HIV and AIDS patients, Living Hope has become an active part of the community.
Lifetree Adventures volunteers will assist patients, visit homes to distribute health information, care for orphans and conduct life-skills lessons in the schools. You will also help with a VBS-like kids club, sharing songs, reading stories and distributing snacks. And while you help the kids with fun craft projects, their parents can undergo life-saving blood tests. Other service opportunities include abstinence education, light maintenance, and helping out with youth sports. This promises to be a challenging adventure, but one where your compassionate service will be remembered for a long time.
“It was awesome to see the people just within our group change over the course of the week. because of the service we were able to provide to the people.”
