Peru
The Peru Lifetree Adventure is all
about building: building homes, and building relationships with the
Shipibo people who live in the villages along the Ucayali River.
You won't just be working for the people here but working
with them-families and villagers who are thankful for the
assistance, but equally ready to do the work themselves. This isn't
charity. It's collaboration that transforms communities, and brings
everyone involved closer to God in the process.
"They will rebuild the ancient ruins
and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined
cities that have been devastated for generations."
(Isaiah 61:4) |
Despite Peru's economic success in recent years, major
challenges remain. Half of all Peruvians still live in poverty.
People in the remote areas of the country have little hope that the
government will provide even the most basic of services that we
take for granted here in the US. That's why your Lifetree Adventure
here will make such a huge difference. When you build a home in
area like this, you are helping to bring stability into an
otherwise precarious existence. At the same time, you are
communicating Christian love in some very tangible, memorable
ways.
It's not all work, however. You'll also be able to take in the
stunning natural beauty of the region, and there will be plenty of
opportunities to play with the children of the villages. Working
together. Playing together. These are the secret ingredients for
the meaningful cross-cultural experiences you will find in
Peru.
"The girlfriends adventure to Peru
was an amazing experience! I loved travelling by boat on the jungle
river to a remote village and connecting with the women and
children there through crafts, games, songs and bible studies.
It was great to connect with our interpreters and the local
pastors."
