Ya’` a’t `e’e’h … literally, “it is good”…is the greeting of the Navajo people in their native tongue. Theirs is a culture that celebrates goodness and beauty in everything around them—the land, their livestock, the people who touch their lives.
“As long as it is day, we must do the work of Him who sent me.”

TRIP OVERVIEW
But most modern Americans are shocked by the housing conditions on the Navajo reservation. Many people live virtually as their ancestors did … in isolated, rough-hewn “hogans” (one-room octagonal houses) without electricity, telephones, running water, or central heat. In addition, many elderly Navajos speak only their traditional language and still try to eke out a living in the traditional way--raising livestock, despite the challenges of their advancing years.
This is your unique opportunity to experience a fascinating and beautiful Native culture from the inside—as you make an immeasurable difference in someone’s life. Perhaps you’ll repair the ravages of the harsh desert sun on a leaky hogan roof. Or maybe patch up a sheep corral to keep an elderly man’s livelihood safe from coyotes at night. Or lay in a supply of firewood to keep an aging, handicapped woman from having to leave the home she loves for a nursing home next winter. You’ll have an experience you’ll never forget…as you touch the life of someone in a way they’ll never forget!
“Great way to serve as a family!”
