Every day, the people of New Orleans wake up to painful reminders of Hurricane Katrina. As hard as it is to believe, much of the city of New Orleans still lies in ruins. The worst natural disaster in American history destroyed tens of thousands of houses, leaving people homeless or without adequate shelter to this day. The economic impact has been devastating, leaving many New Orleanians still unemployed. While some parts of the city have been rebuilt, others languish in disrepair.

TRIP OVERVIEW
Lifetree Adventures will be where the needs are the greatest, so that you can make a difference in the lives of the people determined to restore their communities. The work of cleaning and repairing damaged houses will be messy, dirty and hard, but you’ll be standing side-by-side with the people of New Orleans who have come back to rebuild their homes, and reclaim their neighborhoods.
In addition to the hard work of rebuilding, you’ll connect with the people you serve, getting to hear their stories, and come away with an appreciation for the rich culture and quirky personality of the city. Even though New Orleans has been neglected for so many years, you can show the people who live here that they are not forgotten. But that’s what Christian service is all about: tending to the neglected and extending a hand of kindness in the name of Jesus to those who feel forgotten.
“I got to know God through this trip, better and it was really a fun learning experience.”
- Annie F.
